In recent years, workplaces have emerged as one of the most important places Americans spend their time. One of the key indicators of employee retention is how an employer handles a moment of an employee’s acute need or pain point: in essence, if an employee feels well cared for and supported, this directly translates to employee retention. Harvard Business Review talks about how, as traditional support systems have lost influence, workplaces are where people have sought to fulfill their social, spiritual, and economic needs. Work is becoming the place where people are finding their place of community and connection. This requires something of our workplaces, and it is a responsibility that management should not take lightly.
In the time of COVID-19, the need for staff care is even more present. We sit in a moment in which no one gets out unscathed: loneliness, loss, and other forms of pain and isolation run rampant, and employers have a real chance to show up for their people.
We’ll spend an hour together talking through ways you can create a culture of care and employee sustainability at your workplace.
